I am naturally light skinned and I am hesitant in using new self tanning product. I also find it difficult to find a good self-tanner that will give me a really great dark color.
The Sun self tanning lotion gave me a golden, bronzed skin tone instantly. I was impressed with the coverage and instant color. The best thing about this self-tanner is that it contains a color guide that actually stains your skin. Some of it washes off but part of the color guide remains and is long lasting. This was the first time I used a self-tanner with a color guide because they tend to be messy and stain clothing but this product’s color guide really improves the final color of the tan.
This self tanner came with gloves. It is best to use them to apply the lotion to help provide even coverage. When I first applied it I was a little worried because I really had to work at blending it because it went on dark right away and dried so quickly I didn’t want to be left with patchy, streaky looking skin. In the end, I was really happy with the results.
I applied the lotion before bed and when I took a shower the next morning the color was amazing! The color had intensified at least three shades darker. This product does stain your palms and the best way of removing it is with whitening toothpaste. I didn’t notice any color transfer on my sheets or clothing which was a big bonus.
Sun Laboratories Dark Self Tanning Lotion smells like a cherry lotion, not a bad scent but not my favorite. The smell will linger even after the first few showers. The bottle is only 4 oz. and a little expensive but all you need is a little amount of product to achieve a great tan.
To help make your tan last longer, exfoliate once a week because it will make a huge difference. The tan will last about four days and then you will need to reapply.
If you want to maintain a really dark tan you should apply one to three times a week and use in conjunction with the Tan Moisturizer Maintainer or you can use a really good moisturizer instead.
Overall it’s a pretty good product. I would recommend it because it does provide a great looking tan in a short period of time. It’s not my favorite one but I’d still recommend it.
